11 Schools, Non-Profit Organizations Getting Free Technology Makeovers during Ed Tech Day

Ed Tech of WNY continues to wire students and the community for success! On Tuesday, August 15, 2017, eleven schools and non-profit organizations will be the beneficiaries of the 14th Annual Ed Tech Day, bringing the total number of schools and organizations that have been assisted since 2003 to nearly 100!

Ed Tech of WNY has designated the third Tuesday of every August as Ed Tech Day.Deserving schools and organizations are selected for a free of charge “technology make over.” From 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., volunteers will complete internet wiring, computer installations, Wi Fi installations, Smart Board work, and related tasks at the worksites. Their work will enhance instruction for students and increase computer access and use for children at all the worksites.

The goal of Ed Tech of WNY is to enrich the lives of children by improving access to modern computer technology. The organization sets-up and installs or configures reliable networks, computers, smartboards, servers and other types of technology for community centers, schools, or non-profits at no cost.

Notre Dame High School in Batavia is a previous recipient of services on Ed Tech Day. Principal Thomas Rapone stated, “I would like to recognize the volunteers that assisted with the project. The quality of the work and equipment installed was top notch, and most importantly, it allows our wonderful faculty and students the opportunity to enhance both the teaching and learning experience here. Thank you again for everything!”

Four of the worksites include:

  • Notre Dame Academy, 1125 Abbott Road, Buffalo, NY 14220
  • Our Lady of Black Rock School, 16 Peter Street, Buffalo, NY 14207
  • Holy Family Learning Center, 1339 Indian Church Road, West Seneca, NY 14224
  • Compass House, 1452 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14209
